Gates of Olympus in Cambodia: a complete look at the original slot
In Cambodia, most players meet Gates of Olympus through its sequels. Searches here lean heavily towards Gates of Olympus 1000 and Gates of Olympus Super Scatter, and many people only later go back to the game that started it all. That original, released by Pragmatic Play in February 2021, is still the best place to understand how the whole series works, because every later edition is built on the same rules.
The picture is instantly recognisable. Zeus floats next to a 6×5 grid framed by the columns of Olympus. Symbols do not need to line up; they simply need to appear 8 or more times anywhere on the screen. Wins vanish, new symbols drop in, and Zeus can throw down orbs worth between x2 and x500 that boost the result. Since the dollar is the everyday currency for online play in Cambodia, all examples on this page use US dollars, and the demo on this page runs in USD too.

What do these figures mean in practice? RTP is a long-term statistical average: at 96.50%, the game returns about $96.50 for every $100 staked, but only across an enormous number of spins. In any one session you could be well above or well below that. High volatility means the slot saves its value for fewer, larger wins, with plenty of quiet spins in between. Different operators may install different RTP versions, so the game's own information screen is the place to confirm what you are playing.
Paytable and symbols
Nine regular symbols appear on the reels. The low tier consists of five coloured gems: blue, green, yellow, purple and red. The high tier is the chalice, ring, hourglass and crown. At the top sits the crown, paying 50x for 12 or more. The game has no wild symbol, so each win is a true cluster of identical symbols. The only special symbol is the Zeus scatter.

| Symbol | 8–9 symbols | 10–11 symbols | 12–30 symbols |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crown | 10x | 25x | 50x |
| Hourglass | 2.5x | 10x | 25x |
| Ring | 2x | 5x | 15x |
| Chalice | 1.5x | 2x | 12x |
| Red gem | 1x | 1.5x | 10x |
| Purple gem | 0.8x | 1.2x | 8x |
| Yellow gem | 0.5x | 1x | 5x |
| Green gem | 0.4x | 0.9x | 4x |
| Blue gem | 0.25x | 0.75x | 2x |
Values are multiples of the total bet. With a $1 bet, ten hourglasses pay $10, and twelve crowns pay $50. When several symbol types win in one sequence, their wins are added, and the combined amount is then multiplied by any orbs present.
How multiplier orbs are calculated
Zeus can drop an orb during any spin or tumble. Each one takes a random value from x2 to x500. Orbs have an effect only if the sequence they land in contains a win; on a losing sequence they are simply removed. If there is a win, the values of all orbs on the grid are added up and the total win is multiplied by the result.
Take two orbs, x8 and x12. Together they apply x20, not x96. The addition rule keeps numbers realistic, yet they can still get large: a 6x win with orbs of x100 and x25 becomes 750x the bet, or $750 on a $1 spin. Nearly every famous Gates of Olympus result comes from this kind of combination.
The free spins feature
Four or more Zeus scatters anywhere start the bonus. Before the first free spin, the scatters themselves are paid out, with four worth 3x the bet, five worth 5x and a full six worth 100x. Then 15 free spins begin.
The bonus is where the slot comes alive. Instead of being cleared after each sequence, orbs that land on winning spins are added to a total multiplier. That total stays in place for the rest of the round and applies to every later win. A round that reaches x50 or x100 early can turn ordinary gem clusters into large payouts. Three scatters during the bonus add 5 extra spins, and retriggers can repeat.
Paying for more bonus chances
There are two ways to spend more for better access to free spins. The Ante Bet raises your bet by 25%, so a $1 spin costs $1.25, and in return doubles the chance of landing scatters. It is a gentle option for players who mainly want to reach the bonus.
The bonus purchase is the direct route: 100x the bet, and the free spins start immediately. At $0.50 per spin that means $50 for one round. Results after a purchase can vary a lot, so it is worth trying several buys in the free demo before paying real dollars.
Gates of Olympus free demo in US dollars
The game window above loads Pragmatic Play's own demo build, set to US dollars and an English interface. It uses the real game's maths, including tumbles, orbs, free spins, the Ante Bet and the bonus purchase, but with demo credit instead of money. No account or deposit is needed. Where the big results come from
Highlight videos of large Gates of Olympus wins are popular across Southeast Asia, including Cambodia. Look closely and they share a pattern: the free spins built a high total multiplier early, and premium symbols followed. In the base game an orb affects only one sequence, which is why the largest payouts usually come from the bonus.
The original stops any round at 5,000x the bet. Reaching that is extremely rare, and a normal bonus pays far less, often returning something like 20x to 200x the bet. High volatility also means there can be long periods without a bonus at all. Watch the highlight clips for fun, not as a forecast.
The sequels: 1000, Super Scatter and 2500
Pragmatic Play has released several follow-ups. They share the look of the original but differ in multiplier size, maximum payout and bonus features.
| Gates of Olympus | 1000 | Super Scatter | 2500 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Year | 2021 | 2024 | 2025 | 2026 |
| Orb range | x2–x500 | x2–x1000 | x2–x500 | x2–x2500 |
| Max payout | 5,000x | 15,000x | 50,000x | up to 25,000x (demo shows 15,000x) |
| RTP | 96.50% | 96.50% | 96.50% | up to 96.52% |
| Main feature | the original | orbs up to x1000 | super scatters with instant prizes up to 50,000x | 4 free spin modes, 3 Ante Bets, Super Spins |
Gates of Olympus 1000, the most searched title in Cambodia, doubles the orb ceiling to x1000 and raises the maximum payout to 15,000x. Gates of Olympus Super Scatter, the other local favourite, adds golden super scatters: if one, two, three or four sit on the grid as the bonus starts, they award 100x, 500x, 5,000x or 50,000x respectively. Gates of Olympus 2500 is due on 28 September 2026 with orbs up to x2500, a wheel choosing between four free spin modes, and in two of those modes orbs keep counting even when a spin pays nothing. You will find a full review and demo of each on this site.

- Find Gates of Olympus using the game search or the Pragmatic Play category.

Staying in control
- Fix a budget in dollars. Decide the amount for the session and pick a bet that lets it cover several hundred spins.
- Never chase. A bigger bet after a losing streak does not make the next spin more likely to win.
- Prefer 96.50%. If your platform offers the higher RTP version, it is the better choice over time.
- Experiment in the demo. The Ante Bet and bonus purchase are easier to judge after trying them for free.
- Pause regularly. Stepping away helps keep the game what it should be: entertainment.
Gates of Olympus is the foundation of one of Pragmatic Play's most successful series. Try the original in the free demo in US dollars, compare it with the 1000 and Super Scatter editions, and decide for yourself which one you enjoy most.
